I am Koro-Midnight Dancer. ![]() I tamed the playful sun and gave my people time. And nothing brings out the taste of our tropical paradise like pineapple! So from our ‘ohana to yours, we invite you to enjoy this king of fruits and a taste of the islands wherever you call home. During these celebrations, our ‘ohana shares laughter, stories, and favorite recipes. That is why it is always a part of the traditional island feast we call “pa’ina.” At a pa’ina, you’ll always find a happy gathering of friends and family-known here as ‘ohana. But thanks to dedication and innovation, not only did his dream come true, but it grew into the largest producer of fruit in the world! Here in the islands, the pineapple is a symbol of hospitality. Jim Dole’s idea of making our pineapple available to every family in America seemed, at the time, an impossible dream. ![]() That is, until about a century ago, when a visionary came to our islands. This king of fruits was once so rare and valuable that it was available only to kings. Among our tasty treasures are flavorful fruits such as bananas, mangos, papayas, and of course, the pineapple. This incredible bounty of natural beauty was born of the blending of rich volcanic soil with the warm, tropical climate. No less enchanting are the many varieties of brilliantly-colored tropical birds that entertain with delightful song. Their alluring beauty and intoxicating fragrance fill our island paradise with enchantment. ![]() Every day, the gentle rain paints our landscapes with lush vegetation and a colorful variety of exotic flowers. RICH’S TIP: Neither flash photography nor videotaping is allowed during the Enchanted Tiki Room show in Adventureland. Enchanted Tiki Room souvenirs can be found at the nearby Agrabah Bazaar. The approximately 10-minute show features a variety of animatronic tropical birds (as well as talking statues and flowers) as they sing several upbeat and humorous songs such as “In the Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Room.” Highlights of the show include an appearance from Uh Oa (the tiki “goddess of disaster”), the hilarious chants of the tiki gods and an amazing grand finale that features the entire cast of birds.Īfter the Enchanted Tiki Room show, check out the Sunshine Tree Terrace, which is located in Adventureland behind the Enchanted Tiki Room and serves snacks and ice-cold beverages (including the legendary Citrus Swirl). This fun-filled attraction, which originally opened in Disneyland in 1963 as the first Disney attraction to feature a full cast of animatronic figures, is located just across from the Jungle Cruise and takes place in an inviting theater with benches – a good way to beat the heat when the sun is at its brightest. The Tiki Room made its debut in Adventureland as the “Tropical Serenade” when Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park first opened its doors on October 1, 1971, and was originally sponsored by Florida Citrus Growers.
